Who would not agree that summer in Muskoka is the absolute best? Our guests know it, because about 90% of them re-book almost a year in advance. We usually have a few spots available and some who call to reserve find what they are looking for while others end up on our waitlist.
This is our home and we know Muskoka well. And we know that the summer months is one of many things that Muskoka is all about. June is the big secret. A weekend visit with perhaps an added “call in sick” day is great. The weather is often just like the summer months, the longest day of the year is in June, the lake has warmed up for swimming, the rates are lower, and you don’t have the summer throngs to compete with….it’s as if you have the place to yourself. OK, so the secret is now out. Come and stay with us in June or have a look at what we have available this summer…there isn’t a lot, but it’s well worth taking a peek at our Availability calendar.
The Availability page on our website will show you what we have open. Chinook, our new straw bale cottage, is amazing and guests have raved about it. Like Snowshoe cottage, which we built as a solar powered cottage a few years earlier, Chinook is eco-friendly and was built using straw bales – it’s leading edge and a shining example of “green” design. Chinook is our largest cottage at just under 3000sq ft with 4 bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms, a Muskoka porch and a huge living space. Check out our BLOG to get updates and photos. Our website has more details too; call soon at 866.919.3933 if you would like more info or wish to make a reservation for this winter or into next summer.

First Chickens – Now Bees and a Garden!

Our flock of chickens are always popular, particularly with the kids who often helped to gather the eggs. And there is nothing like fresh eggs for breakfast! We are also beekeepers having started our first hive about 10 years ago. Ask for our amazing honey next time you visit. We also have an organic vegetable garden which regular enhance the soil using compost generated from our guest’s “green stuff”; that’s in addition to our strong emphasis on recycling and building energy, eco friendly cottages.

Out of the Lake, into the Sauna…

Our waterfront dry sauna is ready and waiting. What a treat. It can be an invigorating experience to take a refreshing dip in the lake during fall or spring and then follow it up with the cleansing sensation of a hot sauna. Wow!
