Environmental Efforts

Trip Advisor Green Leader Protecting the beautiful natural surroundings of Foxwood and reducing our impact on the earth is of paramount importance to us. The pristine setting, the abundant wildlife, the clean air and fresh water… these are the attributes which make Foxwood so very special. Although our operation is small, we feel a responsibility to respect and protect our environment in whatever ways we can.
We are extremely proud to have achieved a 4 out of 5 Green Leaf rating from the Audubon Green Leaf Eco Rating program. The Audubon Green Leaf program reported that “Foxwood Resort has made excellent progress in adopting industry best practices for energy efficiency, resource conservation and pollution prevention in all areas of its operation and management”

Through minimizing our environmental impact we hope to reap benefits for the earth, our guests and ourselves. Increased efficiencies and conserving efforts will help to reduce our ecological foot print, improve our image in the marketplace and hopefully inspire and educate our guests. We hope to realize cost savings, to attract more like minded guests, and to keep Foxwood a quality resort for generations to come.

Green Foxwood efforts include:

Adhering to current environmental regulations and looking for better ways to be sustainable.
Managing our resort carefully by monitoring performances, training our staff and educating our guests.
Promoting what we do and why.
Reducing our energy consumption by using timers, by insulating and by updating to energy efficient appliances, equipment, lighting and heating.
Building new structures which incorporate the use of recycled and/or sustainable materials and which are designed to minimize energy consumption using low, or no impact sources such as solar power.
Reducing our water consumption by using low flow faucets, minimizing irrigation, introducing drought tolerant species and monitoring water use.
Conscientiously purchasing recyclable and environmental friendly products and buying locally grown or produced items whenever possible.
Adopting a “reduce, reuse, recycle” and “eliminate” policy.
Respect and encourage biodiversity on our property through managed forest practices, visitor education, and sensitivity to wildlife.
Supporting organizations that work to improve quality of life and the environment by volunteering, by donating services or by contributing financially.
We work to minimize excessive noise and we promote “dark skies” by using downcast, lower wattage lighting.
For those interested, we would be happy to provide specific examples of how we direct our efforts.
